Blank page syndrome strikes. What on earth do you put in a
very first, really first ever blog page?
I suppose I could start by boring the pants off the world with
a biography – OK, so I’m Keith from London, I’m 69 and I enjoy walking. Done.
Out of the way – for now at least.
I might try to explain why I’m here, since a daily diary of
my strolls here and there isn’t going to set the world alight. This blog is
going to become more important as the months roll on, and eventually I shall
use it as a record of a big trek I have in mind for late summer 2019. Much more
will follow about that, but it is a 240-mile two-week journey from my front
door in London to the west of Wales, small roads and footpaths all the way.
This will be no tough Himalayan trek, nor will there be any
rough camping – think of it more as a sort of Borrovian gentleman’s pedestrian
tour.
Not only that, it will be a journey across a post-Brexit
country, and an exploration of whatever and whoever I meet along the way.
It will need some training – it would not be sensible to
take an ageing, if reasonably fit body out on a 20-miles-a-day journey without some
preparation. It will also need some decisions on gear. All this will be worked
through on these pages.
In the months ahead I will put together some words and pictures
on the kinds of stroll that I do anyway, although I’m definitely not promising regular
or frequent posts.
Everyone will be pleased to hear that…
